Wire Gauge Calculator

What?
The Wire Gauge Calculator is used determine the best wire size for your amplifier’s power and ground. The Wire Gauge Calculator is located at the bottom of this page.

Why?
In order to operate safely and get the best performance possible, an amplifier needs its power and ground wiring to be the large enough handle its electrical current demand. The wire gauge your amplifier requires depends on how much current draw (in amperes) your amplifier(s) will try to consume, and on how long your power wire run will be.

How?
Step 1: Determine your amplifier’s fuse rating (in amperes), check the owner’s manual that came with your product. If you have more than one amplifier, simply add the fuse ratings together. Example

Step 2: Determine how long the power wire length will be from your vehicle’s battery to your amplifier.

**If you’re having trouble finding this information please send us a message with your amplifier’s model number and we’ll be more than happy to help you!

AWG = American Wire Gauge: Standardized wire gauge system used since 1857, mostly in the USA. We highly recommend you purchase an amp kit that is rated according to the American Wire Gauge system. Anything less, would be uncivilized!
